We are now paying the price for Tory corruption, millions of people face a cost-of-living crisis as gas and electricity bills rocket. Public ownership of energy companies is the only rational alternative to the ‘rigged’ gas and electricity market.
However, instead of opposition we have a pathetic Labour Party led by Keir Starmer, a dishonest politican who has no intention of offering even a feeble version of social democracy.
The Tory government struggles to contain Britain’s crisis, arming itself with new powers to crush democratic protest.
As socialists we work with progressive trade unions and groups such as Don’t Pay and XR to support and broaden resistance to this crisis, caused by the greed and corruption of the rich and powerful.
Conditions are reaching breaking point. Many workers will be asking not ‘can I afford to strike’, but ‘can I afford not to strike’.
As socialists we are on the side of the people
FOR THE MANY NOT THE FEW
KEIR STARMER AND THE LABOUR PARTY
We oppose Keir Starmer’s false claims to act on behalf of the people. He serves the wealthy at the expense of us all and we oppose the Labour Party in Hove and Portslade because :
· Keir Starmer is funded by private health care firms. The NHS is NOT safe in Starmer’s hands.
· Keir Starmer’s repeated dishonesty
Keir Starmer made 10 pledges to become Labour Party leader. Within a short time he abandoned all of those pledges. Worse still, Starmer has made clear that he would make promises in the future and ABANDON THOSE TOO if he believed it was easier for him to do so.
In other words Keir Starmer’s word and his promises mean absolutely nothing.
·
HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT TO THE LABOUR PARTY ?
We are socialists, unlike those who now run the Labour Party.
That means that we :
· Oppose energy price increases. These increases happen because of the greed and corruption encouraged by our government.
· Support nationalisation of energy and water companies, so the economy works for the many and not the few.
· Support workers – we are on the side of workers who take industrial action as they struggle to keep their pay in line with inflation.
· Oppose racism and discrimination - whether at home or abroad. We oppose apartheid and racist states such as Israel and serial human right abusers such as Saudi Arabia.
· Fight for socialism – an economy that rewards workers not tax avoiding billionaires, full funding for the NHS, transiction to a green and sustainable economy, a democratic media, a proper functioning democracy so that Parliament isn’t just a merry-go-round of blue or red rosette parties that serve the rich and powerful.
